Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s teeth. Over 80% of animals over the age of three have dental disease. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly – above and below the gum line. Doctors and technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. We have high tech dental radiography and perform advanced oral surgery such as bone grafts, enamel sealants and composite restoration.

In any emergency, seconds count. Emergency care is available during the regular business day as well as after hours. South County Animal Hospital is equipped with both flexible and rigid endoscopes as well as a video otoscope. High-tech fiber optics permits direct visual examination and biopsies of a variety of your pet’s anatomy. This is a less invasive procedure and allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral, esophageal, stomach, colon and even upper intestinal tract disease. Many foreign objects can also be removed without the need for surgery. Our video otoscope can show us if your pet’s ear drum is ruptured and allows us to irrigate & suction both the outer & inner ear.

Lasers are a superior alternative to traditional surgery. Lasers replace scalpels in many procedures, and are useful for a wide range of conditions such as soft palate resections, cyst, tumor, and wart removal, and are used exclusively at South County Animal Hospital in declawing. Laser procedures result in less pain, less bleeding and less swelling. They reduce risk of infection and result in fewer post-operative complications.

This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available.
